Mr. Pavel graduated from the Military College of Ground Forces in Vyškov in 2000, majoring in National Defence Economics with a specialization in Logistics of Armed Forces. In 2004, he completed his Ph.D. in National Defence Economics at the same university. Since 2004, he has held various positions at the Department of Logistics in the Faculty of Economics and Management, starting as an assistant and progressing to roles such as researcher, senior researcher, deputy head of department, and ultimately, head of department since 2014.
From 2006 to 2010, he concurrently served as the Vice-Dean for Curricula. Between 2010 and 2011, he took on the role of Vice-Dean for PR and Development. From the end of 2011 until June 2015, he was the Vice-Dean for Research. In 2012, he successfully defended his first habilitation (title Dr. habil.) at the National University of Public Service in Budapest, Hungary, in the study program of Theory of Defence Administration, focusing on Military Sciences of Social Studies. His second habilitation (title doc.) was defended in 2019 at the Faculty of Military Leadership, University of Defence in Brno, in the study program of Economics and Management, specializing in National Defence Economics.
He has actively participated in national and international research projects, as well as collaboration initiatives such as the International Visegrad Fund, EDA and NATO DEEP, along with international military exercises. Since 2007, he has been a member of the Permanent Working Group for Military and Security Field of Studies at the Czech Accreditation Committee. Additionally, since 2013, he has served as a member of the Sectorial Verification and Assessment Panel of the Research, Development, and Innovation Council, an advisory body to the Government of the Czech Republic.
His expertise revolves around supply chain security and resilience, modeling and simulation, and the protection of critical transportation infrastructure.
